Design characteristics
Scale matters more on towels than almost any other product. Terry and waffle weaves swallow fine detail, so tiny hairline motifs disappear into the pile after the first wash. For bath and beach towels, larger motifs and confident, well-spaced repeats hold their shape far better, while kitchen and tea towels can carry a tighter, more detailed repeat because they are woven flatter. In the studio you set the scale and density directly, so you can push a stripe or a botanical sprig up to a size that survives the weave rather than fighting it.
Commercial applications
Color is the other big decision. Towels are dyed and printed against absorbency requirements, so high-contrast, saturated palettes tend to read best, and many manufacturers prefer a limited, separation-friendly color count for screen or sublimation printing. You can lock a tight palette around two or three core colors plus a ground, or build a richer beach-towel scheme when the print method allows it. Borders and stripe bands are easy to compose because the repeat respects the edges you define.
Where to use towel patterns made for print and production patterns
Every design exports as a seamless tile you can hand straight to a print-on-demand service or a textile manufacturer. Pattern Weaver renders up to 8K (8192x8192), and you can download PNG for general use, TIFF for high-fidelity textile printing and color separations, and PDF for sharing layouts and approvals with a factory. JPG and WEBP cover lightweight previews and web mockups, and SVG suits clean geometric and stripe artwork that needs to scale without resolution loss.
Customization & export
Customization runs deep. Start from a named style, then adjust the motif, swap colors, change scale and density, and regenerate variations until the repeat feels right for the towel size you have in mind. Because the output is a real tile, you can drop it into a flat-lay mockup, test how a hand-towel border lands against a bath-sheet field, and confirm the rapport before committing to a production run. The same tile scales cleanly from a small fingertip towel to a king-size beach blanket.
Whether you are launching a bathroom collection, a beach-towel drop, a hospitality linen line, or a one-off gift towel, the goal is the same: artwork that tiles perfectly, holds up at production scale, and arrives in a file your manufacturer can actually use. Set your style, refine the repeat, export at the resolution your printer needs, and move from idea to print-ready towel pattern in minutes.
